The Churn #4
Lactose patches, a wearable companion for women, the world's first airline Wellbeing Zone, Alo Yoga finds its Dubai home, and Marbella's most private wellness retreat opens its doors.
Slather the butter. There’s finally a patch for your lactose intolerance.
The transdermal patch brand Barrière has turned its attention to dairy, unveiling Dear Dairy, the world's first lactose-intolerance patch. Powered by 2.5mg of lactase enzyme, the same active ingredient found in supplements like Lactaid, it is applied 15–30 minutes before your first bite of dairy and works for up to 12 hours. No pills. No timing around meals. Vegan, latex-free, filler-free and paraben-free, the patches are available in two prints: Milky Way set and the Milky Treats edition featuring ice cream, a croissant, coffee and, our favourite, a butter design. mybarriere.com
The wearable that listens to your body
The wellness wearable market has long been built around athletic performance and optimisation. Bèbèdí is building something different. A waist-worn wearable and AI companion designed specifically for women, it tracks activity, sleep, cycle, posture, movement and period — with a ceramic finish, 14-day battery life and waterproof build designed for 24/7 wear. Custom-fitted via a free sizing kit, the body-awareness companion connects via Bluetooth to iOS and Android. Your body is always communicating – the bloating mid-cycle, the tension before a hard week, and the energy drop you feel before you can name it. As a result, founder Tosin began developing the concept while living with PCOS, noticing subtle physical shifts through waist beads before any formal diagnosis. Join the waitlist at bebedi.com.
Qantas unveils the world's first airline wellbeing zone
Long-haul wellness has, until now, been dressed up as an amenity. Qantas has decided that is not enough. The Australian carrier is about to operate the longest commercial flights nonstop from Sydney to London and Sydney to New York, with service expected to begin in early 2027. The A350 will be the first in the world to offer a purpose-built Wellbeing Zone on board. By reducing aircraft capacity from 300 to 238 seats, Qantas has carved out space between the economy and premium cabins, utilising acoustic panelling and soft ambient lighting to create a calm sanctuary above the clouds. The zone is open to all passengers regardless of cabin, featuring guided movement routines on large monitors, sculpted surfaces for stretching and a premium self-serve refreshment bar with snacks and hydrating beverages. The cabin also features 12 circadian lighting scenes grounded in the science of reducing jet lag.
Casa la Mariposa is Marbella's newest — and most intimate — therapeutic fasting retreat
There are wellness retreats, and then there is Buchinger Wilhelmi. The fourth-generation family clinic has been practising medically supervised therapeutic fasting for over a century — long before fasting became a trend. Now it is opening Casa la Mariposa, the former private home of Maria Buchinger herself. The villa features a pavilion, sauna, pool and a garden that moves between sea light and stillness. All medical consultations and treatments are conducted privately on site, with a 24-hour nurse and organic gourmet cuisine and juices delivered from the clinic kitchen. Full access to the heated pool, gymnasium, Pilates pavilion, organic vegetable garden, sauna and tennis court is included, alongside a weekly programme spanning sound baths, cooking demonstrations, Qi-gong, Nordic walking and art workshops in the garden. Children and dogs are welcome. Minimum seven nights, pricing on request. Opens 1 June 2026. buchinger-wilhelmi.com
